Getting the old stuff out, cleanly
Insulation doesn’t last forever. Decades of dust, vermin, water ingress from a slipped tile or a leaking tank, and the wool stops insulating and starts holding moisture and smell instead. In older Essex properties we also regularly find vermiculite , loose grey-brown granules that were poured in before mineral wool became standard.
Whatever’s up there, removal is a containment job, not a shovel-and-hope job. We sheet the access route, seal the hatch, bag material in the loft rather than carrying it loose through your house, and vacuum the joists and ceiling voids afterwards. Everything is taken away and disposed of properly.
Most customers have us re-insulate straight afterwards while the loft is clear , it’s the cheapest time to do it, and it means one visit instead of two.

STEP 01
Inspect & identify
We get up there and tell you what the material actually is, and whether it needs testing before we touch it.
STEP 02
Seal the route
Floors sheeted, hatch sealed, dust kept out of the house. Bags filled in the loft, not on your landing.
STEP 03
Strip & vacuum
Insulation lifted out and the joists and ceiling voids industrially vacuumed , not just swept over.
STEP 04
Dispose & hand back
Everything removed from site and disposed of properly. You get a clean, empty loft ready for whatever’s next.
